Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali is tackling an action drama.
Titled “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother,” a direct reference to a well-known Islamic Hadith, the film stars Ali as Latif, a devoutly religious hitman who struggles to balance work, faith and fatherhood. The film also stars Giancarlo Esposito.
Written and directed by Bassam Tariq, the film is produced by Orion Pictures and distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, with a scheduled release date of September 25.
When his wife dies, Latif (Ali) embarks on a desperate journey across Houston to protect his children, confronting the forces closing in around him – and the beliefs threatening to unravel within.
Ali won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Juan in Moonlight and for his portrayal of pianist Don Shirley in “Green Book.”
Tariq’s film credits include “Mogul Mowgli,” the 2019 drama “Ghosts of Sugar Land” and “These Birds Walk.”
