Chiwetel Ejiofor, Idris Elba Nominated For Critics Choice Super Awards

Nominees for the 6th annual Critics Choice Super Awards have been announced and include actors Chiwetel Ejiofor, Idris Elba, Keke Palmer and Sterling K. Brown.

For the Best Actor in an Action Series, Limited Series or Made-For-TV Movie, Sterling K. Brown earned a nomination for his television series “Paradise,” Idris Elba also received a nod in the same category for “Hijack” while Chiwetel Ejiofor received a Best Actor in a Horror movie nomination for “Backrooms.” For her comedic film, “I Love Boosters,” Keke Palmer received a Best Actress in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie.

The Super Awards honors the most popular, fan-obsessed genres across both television and movies, including Superhero, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Horror, and Action.

“Superman” led this year’s film nominees with six nominations including Best Superhero Movie and “The Boys” was a leader in the television division with five nominations overall including Best Superhero Series, Limited Series or Made-for-TV Movie.

Other actor nominees include Angela Bassett and Octavia Spencer who both received Best Actress in an Action Series, Limited Series or Made-For-TV Movie nods. Spencer for “Ride or Die” and Bassett for 9-1-1.”

Founded in 1995, the Critics Choice Association (CCA) is one of the largest critics organizations in the world, representing more than 500 media critics and entertainment journalists. It is known for presenting the annual Critics Choice Awards, honoring the finest in cinematic and television achievement for over three decades.

Winners will be announced on Thursday, August 6.
