From Apple TV’s “Acapulco” which received multiple awards, a Lifetime nod for Andy Garcia to a Best Actress accolade for Amirah Vahn, the 41st Annual Imagen Awards brought together Latino talent from across the entertainment industry.
“Acapulco” director Oscar Almengor received a Best Director prize, Eugenio Derbe, Vanesa Bauche received Supporting actor nods and the rags-to-riches series also received the award for Best Music Supervision for Film or Television.
“Will Trent” was named Best Drama Series, while “Scrubs” received Best Comedy Series. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo was honored as Best Actor – Drama for “The Lincoln Lawyer,” and Amirah Vahn received Best Actress – Drama for her role as Dr. Gina Walker in “Doc.”
The Afro-Latina actress is best known for her role as Tegan Price in ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder” and the historical drama series “Underground.“
Additional acting honors went to Michael Peña for “All Her Fault” and Arienne Mandi for “Chicago P.D.”
The most prestigious award of the evening went to actor, filmmaker, producer, and musician Andy Garcia who received the Imagen Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his four-decade career and longstanding commitment to Latino representation.
The Imagen Foundation celebrates excellence in Latino film, television and streaming, recognizing artists, performers, filmmakers, producers and storytellers across the entertainment industry.
