Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan has been tapped to receive AAFCA‘s Flip Wilson Award.
The new award is named after comedian, actor and host, Flip Wilson who became a household name in the 70s with “The Flip Wilson Show.”

Morgan is best known for his seven seasons as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” and his Emmy-nominated role as Tracy Jordan on the NBC sitcom “30 Rock” and currently stars in NBC’s “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.”
He will be honored at the 8th Annual AAFCA TV Honors alongside other honorees that include the President of Original Programming at STARZ , Kathryn Busby, writer-producer Celeste Hughey, the head of Programming at Sony Pictures Television, Lamar Chase and writer-producer Felicia Pride.
These individuals will be presented with Special Achievement Awards, recognizing their contributions to television on August 8 in Los Angeles.

Established in 2003, the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) is America’s largest organization of Black film critics.
