Held at Soho House Holloway, LA, the reception which was hosted by the BFI and the British Consul General in Los Angeles,honored the outstanding achievements of filmmakers and creatives whose work has been recognized at the Academy Awards.

In attendance was host and CEO of the BFI Ben Roberts,, BFI America Board member Barbara Broccoli, Academy nominees Diane Warren (2026 Best Original Song Nominee “Dear Me”), Nina Gold (2026 Best Casting Nominee), Jerry Bruckheimer (2026 Best Picture Nominee “F1”)
“Matlock” actress Skye P. Marshall and Yaya DaCosta (“The Lincoln Lawyer”) were also in attendance at the event which celebrates the UK’s contribution to filmmaking.
Akingbola, a British thespian, who hails from Nigerian descent, plays Geoffrey in “Bel-Air,” the remake of the hit ’90s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” which starred Will Smith.
He has built an impressive resume with several projects that include “Arrow,” the award-winning television series “Ted Lasso,” “Rise” and “Hero: The Extraordinary Life of Mr. Ulric Cross.”
