Beenie Man: The Undisputed Dancehall King Comes to Los Angeles

He’s the self-proclaimed “King of the Dancehall,” an apt name for a man who made the difficult transition from childhood deejay to reggae superstar. Anthony Moses Davis a.ka. Beenie Man, “The Doctor,” The Girls Dem Sugar,” is a dominant figure in the dancehall field.

On Friday, November 2, the Grammy Award-winning recording artist who has toured the world over entertaining millions of fans will be headlining a concert at the Hollywood Park Casino in Los Angeles.

Backed by the Zagga Zow Band, Beenie promises to deliver his dancehall classics.
The 39 year-old artist who is widely regarded as Jamaica’s top entertainer, rose to stardom in the early ‘90s after winning a talent show contest, and has since been rocking up the charts with a catalog of hits such as “World Dance”, “Ole Dawg”, “Slam”, “Ketteh Drum “Dis Unu Fi Hear,” and even appeared as himself in the 1997 film “Dancehall Queen.”

A musical prodigy with over twenty studio albums that include “Blessed,” “The Maestro,” and “Many Moods of Moses,” Beenie’s professional career spans thirty years. His concerts are all about the experience and whether you are a fan of soca, reagge or simply dancehall, a concert experience with this authentic recording artist, who can sing dj, and dance is guaranteed to worth the hype.

Beenie started his musical career djing on various sound systems in the early ‘90s and credits his collaboration with top producers Sly & Robbie as the turning point in his career. The duo helped him produce a remake of the iconic Bob Marley’s song “No Woman No Cry” which cast him into the limelight. Beenie catapulted on the success and recorded a slew of hit songs throughout the ‘90s that
captured the dancehall arena earning him the title DJ of the year in 1994.


Other major collaborations with entertainers Dennis Brown, Triston Palmer, Chevelle Franklin and Mad Cobra followed including a collaboration with Lady Saw for the song “Healing” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.” Beenie subsequently released signed his first major record contract with Virgin records out of England releasing his third album “Art & Life” under Virgin Records. A huge success, the album showcased his musical ingenuity and lyrical depth and earned Beenie his first Grammy.

His contribution to the music industry is immeasurable and he has headlined Reggae Sunsplash, Reggae Sunsplash, Ghetto Splash, Sting, Teen Splash and the Reggae Sumfest where he was officially crowned “The King of The Dancehall” in 2009.
Beenie’s work was recently recognized in by the University of The West Indies, who also honored him with his doctorial title, hence another moniker, “The Doctor”.

Also scheduled to appear at the event are Ginjah, Eljai, Jamerican and E-Dee. Produced by Loveable Promotions & Mazerati Muzik Entertainment in association with Jamaican Gold, the event will be hosted by Junior Francis.
