Will Packer, the blockbuster producer of “Girls Trip,” the “Ride Along” franchise, has cast Halle Bailey in his latest rom com “You, Me & Tuscany.”

In the film, Bailey (“The Little Mermaid”) stars as Anna, a young woman who has abandoned her dreams of becoming a chef and is now drifting through her twenties with a series of bad choices. When she loses her house-sitting job (and home), a chance encounter with Matteo, played by Regé-Jean Page, the British-Zimbabwean actor who skyrocketed to global fame as Simon Basset in “Bridgerton,” inspires her to jet off for Italy.
“The way that they meet is a really beautiful thing,” shares Bailey who is best known for her role as Ariel in Disney’s live-action film ”The Little Mermaid ” and as one-half of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle. “Anna goes on this journey of finding herself through going to Italy and this movie really takes you on a really beautiful journey.”
“They have immediate chemistry and you see the sparks flying. They are rich, colorful, fun and passionate,” adds Packer who has had many opportunities to make rom com dramas.
The film’s international cast includes Lorenzo de Moor and Academy Award nominee Nia Vardalos (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”).
”You, Me & Tuscany” is set for theatrical release on April 10.
