Director Travis Knight is bringing the legendary franchise back to the big screen in this live-action adventure.
“Masters of the Universe” was a live-action movie released in 1987 starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor. Based on the Mattel toy line, it followed a hero as he accidentally travels to Earth using a cosmic key to protect the universe from his ultimate archenemy. Released during the twilight of the original toy franchise’s peak, it became a cult classic.
He-Man has existed across cartoons, toys, comics, and films, making it a shared reference point for multi-generational fans.
Knight is bringing the classic back to the big screen with a star studded cast that includes Jared Leto and Idris Elba.

After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.
With plenty of visual effects, the new live-action film officially arrives in theaters on June 5.
