It’s the classic pirate movie set in the West Indies which follows the adventures of a young pirate (Jim Hawkins) and there have been several Treasure Island movies and television adaptations have been made over the years.
The latest series, which will premiere on MGM+ in the U.S. and on Paramount+ in the U.K. and Ireland, will star David Oyelowo (“Selma”) as Long John Silver, Hayley Atwell (“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”) as Bess Hawkins, Jack Huston (“Boardwalk Empire, Day of the Fight”) and Tom Sweet (“Great Expectations, Childhood of a Leader”) as Jim Hawkins.
A six-part drama which re-imagines Robert Louis Stevenson’s 18th century epic, it follows Jim as he gets his hands on a legendary treasure map and sails aboard The Hispaniola.
Oyelowo can also be seen playing Chris Newborn, a former prisoner seeking to rebuild his life in the upcoming drama “Newborn” which releases in theatres in April.
