Kino Lorber and Milestone Films are releasing a new 4K digital restoration of “My Brother’s Wedding.” The second feature by Charles Burnett, who served as the director, producer, director of photography, and screenwriter.
Set in South Central LA in the early 1980s, the film follows Pierce Mundy (Everett Silas) whose life changes when his best friend Soldier (Ronnie Bell) is killed in a car accident.
Burnett’s second feature after “Killer of Sheep” is a tragicomic classic of New Black Cinema in which lived realities are shown in even the smallest of supporting roles, complex and attentive.
The film will open in theaters in NYC at Film Forum on Friday, September 18, before expanding to select cities nationwide.
“My Brother’s Wedding” is digitally restored and remastered by Milestone Films in collaboration with the UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.
