DeJuan Ford, Clifton Powell, De’aundre Bonds and rapper Doug E. Fresh star in this story about a father on a mission to rescue his daughter from a human trafficking network.

Directed by Kamal Smith, DeJuan Ford plays John “Golden” Mickens III, a man released from prison after a decade-long sentence who uses his street smarts to rescue his daughter and dismantle a human trafficking network.
The grandson of the infamous Oakland pimp from the 1970s, Golden is released from prison after serving a decade for a brutal assault. Determined to leave his past behind, he returns to Detroit and tries to rebuild his life when he learn his estranged daughter, is entangled in a sinister human trafficking ring. Overwhelmed by guilt and driven by a fierce paternal instinct, he embarks on a relentless mission to rescue his daughter and dismantle the operation plaguing Detroit. Along the way, he allies with former enemies and confronts the ghosts of his past, as he descends into the darkest corners of the city’s underworld.
The film not only addresses the personal struggles of the characters, but also reflects the broader societal challenges posed by this crime.Human sex trafficking is a stark reality affecting communities everywhere and the film aims to shine a light on this urgent issue.
“The Return of the Mack” has received numerous accolades including the Best in Fest” Award, 2025 Virginia Black Film Festival and Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Cast Ensemble, and Best Supporting Actor (Mike Bonner) awards at the Las Vegas Black Film Festival.
The film releases in select theatres and on Digital & VOD on Friday, April 17.
