Amy Adams: ‘It’s Such An Honor To Be Recognized By My Peers’

“Arrival” actress Amy Adams will face off against Emily Blunt, who secured her first individual SAG nomination for her performance in “The Girl on the Train,” Emma Stone (“La La Land”), Meryl Streep (“Florence Foster Jenkins”) and Natalie Portman (“Jackie”) for the leading actress accolade.

“It’s such an honor to be recognized by my peers for this nomination,” said Adams after finding out about her SAG nomination. “I’m so proud to belong to such an incredible family on this movie and my deepest thanks to Denis [director] and our amazing cast and crew.”

Continuing its domination in the awards race at large, Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight” earned three nominations at the 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards which were announced this morning at the Pacific Design Center’s SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood.  With an additional nomination for its ensemble cast, actors Naomie Harris and Mahershala Ali both earned supporting actor nods . Harris is joined by two other black actress, Viola Davis for “Fences” and “Hidden Figures” Octavia Spencer, marking the first time since 2008 that a majority of the category’s nominees are people of color.

In the television categories, Netflix newcomer “Stranger Things” got three nominations, as did “The Crown,” “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” and “Westworld.” Outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series nominations went to 

“The Big Bang Theory,” “Black-ish,” “Modern Family,” “Orange is the New Black” and “Veep.”

SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris, actress Sophia Bush (“Chicago P.D.”) and Common (“Suicide Squad”) announced the nominees for this year’s Actors.

The SAG Awards will be broadcast live simultaneously on TNT and TBS on January 29 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Calif.
