For the past decade, Essence has held a star-studded celebration spotlighting Hollywood’s most creative and accomplished African-American female visionaries both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
This annual event usually takes place a few days before the Oscars and drew several celebrities from all facets of entertainment.
Essence honored the brilliance, resilience, and impact of the trailblazing women recognized at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event on March 12.
Held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, this year’s honorees included Kerry Washington, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Chase Infiniti, and Zinzi Coogler.
The celebration also spotlighted the visionary women behind the film “Sinners.” Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Hannah Beachler, Ruth E. Carter, Shunika Terry-Jennings and Wunmi Mosaku.
