Sex sells in Hollywood, and the stars who want to remain relevant in the spotlight know it. Some of the hottest female actresses from Jessica Alba, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Kelly Brook to most recently Cameron Diaz have stripped down to give their careers a little boost.
To help the promotion of her film, “The Paperboy”, Kidman posed in only a mini-skirt and heels in the September 2012 issue of V magazine. Aniston performed a sexy strip scene for her movie “We are the Millers,” Moore did a strip dance for Burt Reynolds in the film “Striptease,” while actresses Julianne Moore, Rose McGowan, Helen Hunt, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Sharon Stone and Kelly Brook have all barred a bit of flesh on the big screen.
It’s appropriate that for her new film “Sex Tape,” 41 year-old Cameron Diaz who has reinforced her position as one of the most recognizable stars on the planet gets naked on camera. In the film, Diaz and Jason Segal play a bored married couple who decide to spice up things by filming a sex tape. After it’s accidentally leaked, they try to get it back. Diaz says that even though it’s her first nude scene, she was never intimidated by the material.

“I am pretty comfortable with being naked. I figure that people have already seen my butt. I wear really small bikinis. Considering that this is a film where we had to be naked with each other, it was a partnership where I could feel safe and at the same time, completely playful. We’re not trying to be shocking just for the sake of shocking,” she adds, “but Jason’s just the guy you can do that with.”
Segel and Diaz previously starred together in 2011’s “Bad Teacher” so there’s certainly a comfort factor in reuniting for “Sex Tape” which follows the couple who ship their kids off to grandma’s house for a night and decide to record themselves experimenting with every position from an illustrated book titled ‘The Joy of Sex.’ A marathon session intended just for the two of them puts them in a precarious position once the video is leaked to various iPads that Jay distributed both personally and professionally, including to his best friend (Rob Corddry) and to Annie’s new boss (Rob Lowe). Their embarrassment turns into a crazy effort to hide their private moment from public view. The bulk of the movie pretty much centers on their attempt to prevent the tape from being shown on a well-known pornographic site.
An entertaining jaunt which didn’t quite hit the side-splitting target it was aiming for, the raunchy comedy made a disappointing debut
and brought in just $15 million in the States upon its weekend release.
Disappointing numbers for Diaz, who has starred in several films that have grossed more than $100 million internationally.
The actress made her feature film debut at age 21 in 1994 captivating moviegoers as femme fatale Tina Carlisle in “The Mask.” There was the hilarious comedy “There’s Something About Mary,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “Being John Malkovich,” “Vanilla Sky” with Tom Cruise and the film version of the iconic 70’s television series, “Charlie’s Angels,” opposite Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Bill Murray which broke the domestic box office records
Lately, her few films “The Other Woman” and “The Counselor” have been consecutive critical duds. If Diaz wants to retain her throne in Hollywood, she may need to rethink the strip down strategy
