A spinoff of the “Rocky” films which told the story of fighter (Sylvester Stallon) from the back streets of Philly who becomes a world champion, “Creed” hopes to create a whole new audience.

Written and directed by Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station”) who pitched the idea of a “Rocky” continuation to Stallone, the film stars Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad.
In the film, Jordan plays Adonis Johnson, the son of world heavy weight champion Apollo Creed, who Rocky Balboa (Stallone) had an iconic boxing match with in the “Rocky” film franchise. Adonis never knew his father who died before he was born (Rocky’s former rival turned friend met an unfortunate end in “Rocky IV”). Interested in becoming a boxing champ, he hunts down Rocky to train him. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter and it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title.
Jordan and Coogler previously worked together on “Fruitvale Station” in which critics praised the actor’s performance and the director’s work. Jordan is best known for the HBO’s dramatic hit series “The Wire” and NBC’s Emmy winning series “Friday Night Lights.”
“Creed” releases nationwide November 25th
